Event Description
Karim Miské’s acclaimed documentary, Musulmans de France, revisits France’s history to consider the 20th century from the French Muslim perspective. The young documentarian pieces together the evolution of French Muslims’ cultural identity, including interviews with icons like Abdel Raouf Dafri, screenwriter of Un Prophète (screening at the French Cultural Center on April 11).
Shown for the first time in New England, the film will be presented in its original version, with English subtitles.
The screening will conclude with a brief panel discussion, followed by a reception marking the close of the 2011 Boston Muslim Festival. Panelists will include Consul General of France Christophe Guilhou, AIC's Nasser Weddady, and Musulmans de France director Karim Miské (via videoconference).
Please note that the screening will begin promptly at 6:00pm and that seating is limited. Please plan accordingly.
This event is presented with the support of the Cultural service of the French Consulate in Boston, and the American Islamic Congress, a non-religious civic initiative promoting tolerance and the exchange of ideas among Muslims and between other peoples. Source
