Event Description

Un Prophète  tells the story of a North African petty criminal thrust into a Corsican prison at age 18. With an entrepreneurial edge and an ear for languages, Malik El Djebena endures the standard brutalities of incarceration while quickly learning the "ways" of the prison, an institution torn between Arab and Corsican gangs.

Directed by Jacques Audiard (Read My Lips, The Beat That My Heart Skipped), this Oscar-nominated drama is presented as part of the 2011 Boston Muslim Festival in its original version, with English subtitles.

American Islamic Congress' Civil Rights Outreach Director Nasser Weddady will lead a brief Q&A following the screening.

Please note that the screening will begin promptly at 6:00pm and that seating is limited. Please plan accordingly.

This event is presented with the support of the Cultural service of the French Consulate in Boston, and the American Islamic Congress, a non-religious civic initiative promoting tolerance and the exchange of ideas among Muslims and between other peoples. Source
