Summer in French for Teens
Session Dates:
July 9 - July 20
August 6 - August 17
Summer in French for Teenagers (ages 14-17):
Our Summer in French for Teenagers (ages 14-17) is a French-language immersion program taught by qualified and dynamic native-French speakers. We offer a personalized approach, with small classes of 5-10 students and age-appropriate activities tailored to their specific language needs. The program is offered at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels, which are determined through a required online placement test and oral assessment.
Immersion Program 9:30am-12:30pm
In keeping with the European framework for teaching languages, morning sessions are designed to challenge students in four key areas: oral comprehension, written comprehension, speaking and writing. Through practical communicative activities, such as targeted role plays, the students explore aspects of French culture, including cinema, culinary traditions, historical perspectives, and les beaux-arts. Students have the opportunity to research their projects in our extensive library, which is the second largest private collection of French literature in the country.
Cultural Discovery Program 1:00pm-4:00pm
In the afternoons, students participate in our Cultural Discovery Program, taking a hands-on approach to exploring French culture through field trips and workshops led by French artists and musicians. Past field trips include a visit to the kitchens of La Voile on Newbury Street, where students met and conversed with professional French chefs. Workshops are led by visiting French artists, photographers and musicians, who expose students to their areas of expertise and guide them in creating projects of their own. For those staying full days, these workshops allow students to put the vocabulary they learn during the morning sessions into practice, by integrating it into their projects and web journal.
